Fatal Fire In Keyser
Thu. May 6th 2010

On Thursday morning Fountain Fire Company was alerted for fully involved structure fire on Keys Street. Chief 36 (Danny Bevers) reported fire with entrapment. Chief 33 arrived to find fire coming through roof. 2 of Keyser city police officers had entered residence and pulled occupant from fire. Chief 33 requested 2nd alarm. Units responding were 33-13, Truck 33, Squad 33, RE-23, Engine 39, Engine Tanker 38, Squad 22, Ambulance 57, Ambulance 353, Medic 39-70, Truck 24, Engine 22-1, Squad 37, RE-140, ME-1, State Fire Marshall. The crews from engine 39 was first assigned to RIT but was upgraded to suppression with 2nd alarm. Engine 39 was placed at the hydrant to pump the hydrant for pressure increase.  Crew made entry with members from 33 and 23 to help with suppression. After fire under control, the crew from 39 remained inside to assist with overhaul. The occupant was transported to PVH and the KPD officers was treated for smoke inhalation. After hose lines reloaded in their respective places, Engine 39 returned to station available.
